Before creating

  • This is NOT a gameplay feature from Civ VI, BNW, or outside - see Roadmap
  • This is NOT a gameplay feature from Vanilla Civ V or from G&K - If so, it should be a comment in Missing features from Civ V - G&K #4697

Problem Description

Currently when a trade agreement ends you have to spend 1 turn without a luxury resource that was its subject. Even if the AI addresses you on its own initiative at the start of the turn when the agreement ended, that turn the agreement is not in effect. So your happiness takes a dive on this turn. It's not terrible, but it's not... tidy.

Desired Solution

During the last turn of when a trade agreement is still in effect, in the diplomacy window of the civilization with which you have this agreement, make a button "Prolong the current trade". This has the effect of auto offering the same conditions on which the current agreement was made, and if the conditions are accepted by the AI, the agreement is not interrupted for 1 turn, like now; instead new 30-turn period starts.
