Muttator 1.4 isn't uploaded to Mozilla Addons? #769
Comments
Well, we uploaded 1.4 to AMo, but it wasn't accepted, mainly due to our
excessive use of eval().
This was no problem before (we needed it for years for things like
:javascript), but this time it was rejected and nobody cared to argue with
the reviewer, and removing all the eval() stuff would not just be a lot of
work but also seriously cripple muttator/vimperator. Interestingly,
vimperator also uses the same amount of eval() and apart from warnings
there was never a problem.
But you are right, we should at least upload the latest version to our
homepage.

I've compiled the version from master and it works well. It's uploaded here: https://github.com/antonmry/vimperator-labs/releases/tag/muttator-1.4 It would be nice if muttator releases were delivered also in GitHub (as vimperator). Also, an specific repo for muttator would be great, it isn't easy to find the muttator release. I can help with both if you agree. |
@antonmry Thanks to your comment on the plugin page I found the release packaged by you, and after simply installing it things are working on the latest Thunderbird. |
Hi everyone, any update on this? Is anyone using muttator successfully? Is it still maintained? Thanks! |
Hi Valentin,
unfortunately, Muttator (as Vimperator) is not maintained anymore. I guess,
it doesn't even work on current Thunderbird anymore (Vimperator stopped
working 3-4 years ago, when they changed the extension system).
It's sad, but that's the way it is :(
For browsing, I can recommend the Vimium extension, which shall work both
for firefox and chrome.
Best,
Martin

Tridactyl (https://github.com/tridactyl/tridactyl) on Firefox seems much more akin to Vimperator. |
The latest version shown in addons is Muttator 1.3.1.1-let-fixed, but I read from the release note that 1.4 was already released.
