Is Storybook composition a (possible) replacement for standalone preview storybook?

I currently use Storybook standalone preview (V5.3) in order to display HTML component stories whose CSS/JS/static dependencies are bundled with Parcel 2, not Webpack.

Here's a fixed standalone preview bug that explains my setup.

I started looking at Storybook V6 composition this week, but I'm waiting for a composition CORS issue to be fixed before I can proceed any further.

Questions:

1. Is composition seen as a replacement for standalone preview (which is no longer supported)?
2. If not, what are the plans (if any) to support Storybooks that may use bundlers other than Webpack?
