Apple TV not recognized by atvremote

What do you need help with?

When running either a wizard or scan, atvremote is not always seeing my AppleTv 4th Gen (Apple TV HD). It sees it at times and not at other times. If I switch it on with it's own physical remote, it comes on. Once on, I can control it with atvremote.

Please could you let me know how to address this?

Is there a way to 'wake up' the apple tv from it's standby status so that atvremote can see it at all times?
