How to setup Polar for an organization with multiple maintainers #3107
-
In our organization, OpenEMR, we have several administrators / maintainers of the project. I'm trying to figure out how a team of people are supposed to use Polar. I've gone ahead and signed up and can see on the creator backend that I can switch from my own personal account to the organization system. What happens if the other admin's signup for polar and attempt to connect to the same organization? I couldn't read anything in the documentation on how that works. Will each maintainer who have admin access to the project need to setup their own stripe connect for the organization, or do we need a designated 'master' user whose settings will setup a single stripe connect for the entire organization? Or will the settings be shared across all maintainers for the same project? The next part of our question is trying to figure out how the workflow for compensating the maintainers will go. Our ideal scenario is to fund a % of the proceeds to a collective account to be used for future organization goals, a % to go to the admin/maintainer who reviewed / merged in the PR, and then a % to go to the contributor who fixed the issue. If I'm understanding how polar is working it looks like we might be able to do this by adding the reviewing maintainer as a 'collaborator' at the time we fund the issue with some % towards that, and then allocating a % to the organization, with the rest going to the issue fixer. |

Thanks for reaching out @adunsulag. We'd be honoured to support OpenEMR! Apologies for the delay – my family has been going through a flu so I'm a bit behind.
We automatically sync GitHub permissions in terms of admins (owners) for organizations. So in case you setup the organization on Polar and other admins join Polar with their GitHub Login, they will automatically become admins on Polar too.
No. We only support 1 account per organization. So one of the admins would need to be the "master" and set that up. This is how it then works:
Yes, that is correct for issue funding. You can issue rewards like so:
However, subscriptions and donations will only go to the organization (100%) without an ability to split where those funds go. We're investigating being able to support this at the account/balance level vs. issue funding alone. Still early days in terms of those explorations so I cannot promise anything or give an ETA though, but it's an exciting opportunity we're eager to explore. |
