Unable to initiate Tasks query

I am a new Obsidian user and wanted a plug-in that would carry over things on a to-do list. Tasks seems great, but I am very confused about what I am doing wrong when querying my tasks. I am trying to do the most basic query.

```tasks ```

but I keep getting this error

Tasks query: do not understand query Problem statement: ```tasks

I feel like there is a setting I am missing or I have something set up wrong in Obsidian, as the most basic query should work with no problem.

What to try

1. Please switch to source mode in Obsidian
2. Then use Obsidian's Paste and match style to exactly paste in this text:

```tasks
not done
limit 20
```

3. Then switch to Reading mode.

That search should work.

Please let me know how you get on.

What may be happening

From the formatting of your text above, I cannot exactly tell what is going on.

But I am guessing that your Markdown source code looks like this:

```tasks
tasks
```

That text gives me this error message, which says Problem line, not Problem statement.

Problem line: "tasks"

Thanks for the response. However, after taking your advice, I am still receiving the same error that I initially posted. It is "Problem statement" not "Problem line". Here are some screenshots of my obsidian in source view then reading view.

Has your version of the Tasks plugin been modified in any way?

For example, are you running a translation plugin that has modified the Tasks source?

I didn't adjust the plugin at all, just installed it directly from Obsidian.

Though, you mentioning this made me realize I should do a clean install of the plugin. It seems to be working now! So there must have been a problem with the initial install.
