I'd like to be able to display text in or near the clock. This may be used to indicate the city/or time zone the desklet instance is displaying.

Isn't the desklet label an option for you to indicate the time zone? It was my intention to use it for things like that, that's why I added the functionality of a custom label.

A short question related to the hostcheck (or any other plugin).
I manually installed a version from the repository for trouble shooting reasons, maybe you remember, but now the hostcheck plugin is not getting updated via the update service any more.
Any idea, how to fix that without reinstalling (and loosing all settings).
Sorry for the crosspost, but the other threads are closed already.
Thanks.

You should open a new Discussion topic for this if you have any follow-ups. When Spices are downloaded from the site, a line is added to the metadata.json file with the last-edited key. The value is an integer timestamp value that is compared to with the latest version online to determine if an update needs to be made. Manually installing a Spice does not add this line so you would need to add it manually if you want updates. You can set it to a value of 1 and then try running an update to make sure it works (taking in mind proper commas and formatting in the file). Take a look at other Spices you have installed if you want an example. As this is a general question and not specific for any Spice, it would be best as a Discussion topic if you have any further issues. (The link is there if you use the "New Issue" button from this repository.)
