Describe the bug
Pressing the narration button results in foliate rapidly moving through pages without any sound. If text is selected, then no sound is played at all.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Run text to speech or select text and play tts

Expected behavior
Read aloud text

Version:

  • Foliate version: 3.1.1
  • OS/Distribution and version: Fedora Workstation 41
  • Desktop environment: GNOME 47
  • Installation method: offical fedora repos

Additional context
I have installed speech-dispatcher and espeak-en

Does spd-say work?

I have the same problem on both flatpak 3.2.1 and DNF 3.1.1. In my case, I use speech-dispatcher with piper. spd-say and firefox read aloud are working in my case.
