Sadly, 10 months later, the issue still persists.
(and that includes "show controls, enter pip, etc." on right-click)

The only workaround I've found is to type this in the browser's console:
$("[playsinline]").style ="position:relative; z-index:99999";

How I wish it would/could be fixed... I miss my beloved PiPer!
