That's one of the many features that will and during the alpha release cycle.
I'm using the Sketch Color Panel as inspiration since that one as always been the most intuitive and easy to use for me.
The plan includes having different views to handle flat colors, gradients, images, and noise generated texture, as well as the ability to create, import, and export color palettes globally or document based.
We haven't properly thought how to approach this implementation, especially considering that will be the first block of a more advanced Design System Manager in Akira.
Using a .gpl file format seems interesting.

More than selecting arbitrary colors, it’s a huge productivity boost to have quick access to colors from a pre-defined palette.
Inkscape and Gimp use the .gpl file format for sharing palette files. It would be nice to be able to re-use the same palette file.
elementary icons ships a .gpl if you need a reference file :)
