Supplementary note: This behavior is operated under the condition that the material has been separated, so the first separation is normal, but the second separation will report an error.Although normally there is no need for a second separation, I personally think it would be better to fix the error message that directly pops up and prompts that it has been separated.

I encountered the same issue. My pmx file contains only one mesh object, and when I click "Separate by Material," I get the same error.
