Where is long term memory stored?

Auto GPT will create a .txt file sometimes but where ist he long-term memory stored?

Looks like Auto-GPT has a workspace folder that stores the memory. auto_gpt_workspace

I'm still confused about memory. I would like a way to wipe it and also not sure how the logic for using previous config and new config

It was creating .txt files for a few tasks but it hasn't done it lately. I asked it to do it manually and it said it was creating a file but it never appeared.

I have never seen anything go in to that memory file in that workspace. That being said, clealry their is some retention..

Understanding short term and long term momory is also important to me. Before digging into the code, can someone clarify?

What I figured is, that if you set a goal to write certain information into a file it will write files more often

After digging through the code. It can read files in the workspace directory.

It uses the command

11. Read file: "read_file", args: "file": ""

I think it reads the file and usually leaves just like commits a note about what it read to memory still. So I'm not sure if it can recognize that it has a file in the workspace that it can reference to have a knowledge base.

There's also some kind of python cache files with .pyc extensions in the scripts directory. I don't know what python cache files are yet.

Trying to understand autogpt, there's no documentation that I know of yet.
