Installing without anaconda and straight pip works on fedora

I can't seem to get it to work. I'm on an m1 mbp and have gone through all of the packages but now I am stuck on the error below when I try to run terminal.py. Do you have any thoughts/ideas for what to try? Thanks!

AttributeError: module 'i18n' has no attribute 'load_path'

Having the same issue on an up to date Debian distro.

Any suggestions? I can try running the requirements.txt troubleshooting step as well.
