Its not a bug. Has been removed.
As suggested from comment below, use any other alternative like F-droid (Or any other fdroid modern client like Neo-Store etc...) or use Obtanium for get updates directly from Github releases |

google does this to stuff their clients and friends like spotify dont like use fdroid |
