Hi, I'd love to become an active member here.

I love the idea of this project and it has actually helped me to program :)

As someone who learns from books, this repos ethics and intentions fit me well.

I currently also work on tldr-pages so my entire time is slightly limited however I always read the majority of my notifications.

So overall, as asked above, what do I have to do to become one?

Thanks to our volunteers, we've managed to merge or close over a thousand PRs in October!

October is really busy here! As I don't have time to look at PR's that don't pass tests, I'm sure many of those participants could use a bit of encouragagement.

With Hacktoberfest coming soon, volunteers will be sorely needed. Mostly we need people willing to help new submitters understand the various rules and policies of the repo. We get lots of first-time submitters, even first-ever PR people. Be nice to them, as a good experience can lead to continuing contributions to open source software in general. So ANYONE can help, once they've read and understood docs/CONTRIBUTING.md If you are fluent in a language other than English, you can help make new submitters in your language welcome.

We have quite a few PR's that have been abandoned after Hacktoberfest. Sometimes the submitter resubmits and neglects to close the bad PR, sometimes they can't figure out how to fix linting errors, sometimes they ignore comments about how to fix the PR.
If you see a PR to seems abandoned, feel free to add the suggested resources in a new PR (referencing the old one) or leave a comment saying the PR is moot and should be colsed.
