web ui opens and closes

when trying to run WebUI a window pops up and then closes. can some one help me?
i have zero knowledge in coding so don't throw unknows spells that i have no clue what it is. i followed all tutorials but it still not working

If the terminal window pops up and closes right away, it suggests something isn't installed quite right. Since you don't have coding experience, let's try a simple test.

1. In explorer, go to the directory where you installed stable-diffusion-webui.
2. Right-click in an empty space in the window and select "Open in terminal".
3. Once terminal or powershell opens, type "./webui" followed by enter.

This will start the server and let you see the error messages that come up without immediately closing the window.

If you post a grab of what the terminal messages are, we can look at the errors and advise.

If you feel up to it, the alternative is just to start over and follow the instructions on the git page for installing very carefully.

The steps for installing should be:

1. Install Python 3.10.6, checking "Add Python to PATH"
2. Install git.
3. Download the stable-diffusion-webui repository, for example by running git clone https://github.com/AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui.git.
4. Place model.ckpt in the models directory (see dependencies for where to get it).
5. (Optional) Place GFPGANv1.4.pth in the base directory, alongside webui.py (see dependencies for where to get it).
6. Run webui-user.bat from Windows Explorer as normal, non-administrator, user.

I have the same problem and those are the errors.

python 3.11 is not supported. You for sure did not follow the install instructions.

I have the same issue except that it doesn't show me any errors:

I have python 3.10 installed (first I installed it via pyenv, it didn't work, then installed from microsoft store, still no luck) I'm using windows 11.

You can fix this by adding Python in your PATH. Make sure you have version 3.10.6.

Steps:

1. Open the Start menu and search for “Environment Variables.”

2. Click on “Edit the system environment variables.”

3. In the “System Properties” window ('Advanced' tab), click the “Environment Variables” button.

4. In the “Environment Variables” window, under the “System variables” section, find the “Path” variable and select it. Click the “Edit” button.

5. Click the “New” button and add the directory path where Python is installed. The default path for Python 3 is typically C:\Users<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\PythonXX, where “XX” represents the version number.

6. Click “OK” on all open windows to save the changes.

7. Launch the Webui again and it should work fine.

I think pyenv might've deleted the path entry for python.

This was it for me too with pyenv. You can also point the environment variable directly to the pyenv installation of python if you want to stay in they pyenv world. The location should be similar to this on Windows:

C:\Users\USERNAME\.pyenv\pyenv-win\versions\3.10.10
