I like this idea. And it could be made clear - in writing - that this is for support, not for buying new features or whatever. I think a lot of times, people see a "donate" button, they send a bunch of money, and then come back later saying "I gave you $2, you have to implement this feature!" A donation should be just that: a gift to the author(s) to help them continue development in a general way. As someone else has mentioned, the Patreon model sometimes makes people think that when they donate, they get a "vote" or whatever. I don't think git repos are a democracy. Open source is, you're scratching your own personal itches, and AUTOMATIC1111 has done an incredible job scratching itches (hundreds of itches) that we also appreciate. But in the end, AUTO1111 fixes the things that matter to them, and that's the way open source works. |
