I get this problem when I try to git clone.

most likely somehow something went wrong in your git configurations

as far as I am aware boolean values in git configurations should not have quotes

interestingly when I test it with the quotes it seems to function
and from what I can see it is interpreted as a boolean value and not just strings because it doesn't take other string
as in only works with "trre" "false" works but not other strings

my guess is that you need to correct your configuration file with true or false without the quotes

if you want to experiment see if newer version of git would automatically convert "true" "false" strings into boolean values you could try upgrading git before fixing your config

out of curiosity what version of git are you using?

When I checked the git config, there were no quotes in the boolean values. I also tried using quotes in the boolean values which gave me the same error. I used the command git config --global http.sslVerify false in bash which did solve the problem tho. I am using the latest version of git.

do you perhaps have a local config that overrides the global one?

I dont think so. I have been using it the way it was installed.
