Accessing A1111 prompt field values (UI, not processing object) from an extension

Hello all. I am writing an extension and need to access the text values of the prompt and negative prompt of Automatic1111 from within my extension (accessing the prompt at runtime is easy but not helpful for this use case. I've been digging into the shared modules, but haven't found any leads yet. Is this possible? I am using webui 1.6.0 at the moment.

UI, not processing object

by that do you mean that you wish to access the prompt value on client side (UI) using JavaScript and Not the values in p object during image generation

if you can give more concrete example of what you're trying to do and I might be able to help

Yes, exactly -- although I didn't realize it was a JS operation, I thought there would be some way through gradio it would be accessible. But I'm open to learning the JS side of things in this ecosystem, I haven't written any javascript in about 8 years... :)

Sorry -- use case is this. My extension involves writing syntax to manipulate the prompt at generation time. I'm looking to harvest what is in the prompt textbox and autogenerate template syntax in the text field of my extension, triggered by a button in my extension. So I just need the value of what's in the A1111 prompt field. For now, I am storing the last generated prompt in a static variable and using that, but it requires running the prompt at least once for it to work properly, and I'd like to remove that bit of hackiness by accessing the prompt directly.

you don't need JavaScript for that

technically speaking JavaScript is still involved, it's just handled by gradio

if you use JavaScript is possible to make the operation fully client side
this means that it would be able to work without the server and improve performance in some cases

you basically need a way get the element of the prompt box
so that you can use it as the input or out put of your task

getting the prompt box element can be done by using registering a function call in on_after_component_elem_id or implement after_component on_after_component function in the script and use it to save the element of the prompt box

in the example I use on_after_component_elem_id

when using after_component on_after_component you will have to Implement your own check for the correct elem_id
whare as on_after_component_elem_id you register the callback by adding a tuple with the (elem_id, func)
